Actually, it belongs to the HOA and the tree guys took it away after they finished cutting it down. I did, though, grab a very thin slice from across the trunk and a wedge that looks interesting. Perhaps I will post a picture…
It breaks my heart! What stories that tree could tell! I’m glad you snagged a bit of it. Here’s hoping it will warm a few Coloradans some winter evening.
It is sad that the tree had to go, but more than half of it was dead and I feared what should happen in a windstorm. Cottonwoods have a hard time after a certain age…kind of like some people…
SAd. Are you keeping the wood for projects or firewood?
